This project began with research into the ethnocultural detachment experienced by Gen-Z Asian Singaporean individuals whose families transitioned into predominantly English-speaking households. It uses infographics and experimental spectrogram data-visualisation to explore the impacts of such language transitions upon this demographic’s varied definitions of cultural identity.

Design graphics communicate abstract sociological concepts, helping readers to form an understanding about the interplay between everyday language practices, media consumption, experiences of "cultural cringe,", “linguistic insecurity”, and "cultural alienation”. The aim is to encourage deeper introspection and dialogue about the connections between Singaporean natives and their cultural roots within an increasingly English-speaking locale.
